About

rpg.lol is an independent RPG publication about games, characters, stories, gear, guides, and the entirely reasonable amount of emotional investment we make in fictional worlds.

We are less interested in chasing every release or pretending to be a breaking-news desk. The focus here is on the parts of RPGs that stick with us: the characters we remember, the worlds we want to live in, the systems we obsess over, and the strange little habits players develop along the way.

What we write about

You’ll find articles about RPGs and MMORPGs, character creation, storytelling, companions, worldbuilding, player habits, gaming gear, practical guides, and the occasional completely unnecessary opinion that somehow became 1,800 words.

Some pieces are personal and based on firsthand experience. Others are researched features that look across multiple games, developers, and design ideas. We keep those two things separate because “I played this” and “I researched this” are not the same claim.

We also have a dedicated LOL section for the less serious side of the hobby. That is where the petty grievances, suspicious inventory behaviour, bad decisions, and other evidence against us are kept.

What rpg.lol is not

This is not a review mill, a release calendar, or an attempt to cover every game that comes out.

We would rather publish something useful, funny, thoughtful, or genuinely interesting than produce an article simply because a game happens to exist this week. Reviews are based on firsthand play. If we have not played something, we will not quietly research other reviews and pretend otherwise.

We are also not here to tell you there is one correct way to enjoy an RPG. Some people raid. Some decorate houses. Some spend four hours in character creation and then need a lie down. All valid.

Why rpg.lol exists

RPGs are unusually good at becoming more than the thing we play for an evening.

We spend years with characters. We remember tiny side quests long after forgetting major plot details. We organise fictional inventories, decorate fictional homes, argue about fictional politics, and occasionally become emotionally compromised by a collection of polygons with excellent dialogue.

That seemed worth writing about.

So rpg.lol is a place for the games themselves, but also for everything that grows around them: the stories, habits, tools, gear, attachments, and questionable decisions that come with being an RPG player.

In short, we take RPGs seriously.

Ourselves, considerably less so.
